What is ABS?
ABS stands for Anti-lock Braking System. If wheel 'lock up' is detected under forceful braking, ABS momentarily reduces brake pressure at the affected wheel. This improves braking efficiency - reducing stopping distances on most surfaces - and helps maintain steering control to ensure the vehicle remains directionally stable.
Mazda6 – Is a V6 engine available?
The MZR 2.5 litre four cylinder petrol engine in the current Mazda6 has been developed to produce more power, more torque and better fuel efficiency than its predecessor. This engine produces 125kW of power and 226Nm of torque.
North America offers a V6 option in its locally produced cars for its market only. Mazda Australia vehicles are produced at the Hofu plant in Japan and no plans exist to develop a V6 for the right hand drive models in our market.
What are ‘space saver’ or temporary spare wheels?
Some Mazda vehicles are designed to be used with a temporary or ‘space saver’ spare wheel and wheel dimensions vary according to the particular Mazda model. Our vehicle specification brochures and website information indicates if a temporary spare wheel is supplied with your Mazda.
Temporary spare wheels are popular with consumers due to the increase in cargo space and the reduction in weight they provide. They are completely safe to use on Australian roads when used in accordance with the directions in the Owner’s Manual and comply with all relevant Australian standards.
Why is there a difference between the build date and compliance date of my car?
The vehicle build date is the date of manufacture. A compliance date is allocated in Australia when a vehicle is released from government bond.
The difference between the two dates reflects the time taken to ship the vehicles to Australia. Mazda considers the Australian compliance date to be the year of the model.
What is turbo charging?
Turbochargers are part of the engine and are a type of air induction system. A turbo compresses the air coming into the engine, which in turn allows more fuel to be added during the combustion process.
This results in higher levels of power than would otherwise be possible from an engine of a particular size. By creating more power for very little weight increase the power-to-weight ratio is improved compared with a normally aspirated engine.
What is S-VT?
Sequential Valve Timing or S-VT is an innovative feature with its origins in motor racing. S-VT adjusts the timing of valve opening and closing according to engine speed and load conditions. It optimises engine power, fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions at all engine speeds.
